U.S. Expert Close to Trump Warns: Polisario Threat Is Growing, and Terrorist Designation Can No Longer Be Delayed

In a firm statement reflecting growing concern within U.S. political circles over the actions of the Polisario Front, Robert Greenway, Executive Director of the Abraham Accords Peace Institute, called for the urgent classification of the group as a terrorist organization, stressing that the time has come for Washington to take a clear stance without further hesitation.
Greenway, one of the closest advisors to former U.S. President Donald Trump, emphasized that decision-makers in Washington are now fully aware of the dangers posed by Polisario’s actions—especially given its alarming ties to regimes and entities that threaten both regional and international security.
The American advisor added that the delay in taking this decision has come at a high cost, asserting that postponement is no longer an option amid mounting evidence of the group’s involvement in destabilizing activities and support for terrorism in the region.
Greenway’s remarks come at a time when pressure is mounting within the U.S. Congress to advance a legislative initiative to classify the Polisario as a terrorist organization—particularly in the wake of today’s missile attacks that targeted civilian areas in Smara, southern Morocco. These attacks have sparked widespread dismay among diplomatic and security circles in Washington.
Observers note that this shift in the American discourse is no longer an isolated stance, but rather reflects a growing trend within U.S. policymaking institutions toward reassessing how to deal with the separatist group—especially after its involvement in armed operations and its support from anti-peace actors such as Iran, Algeria, and Hezbollah was confirmed.
Pending an official decision from the U.S. administration, Greenway’s position serves as a clear warning that Washington’s patience is wearing thin and that Polisario’s actions will no longer go unaccounted for.
