Over 9,000 Policemen Promoted by Selection in FY 2020

A total of 9,499 policemen, all corps and ranks, have benefited from a promotion part of the 2020 fiscal year, which represents 87% of total budget items devoted to national security, announced Friday the National police (DGSN).

The number of beneficiaries of promotion by selection increased by 28.26% (2,093 beneficiaries) in the fiscal year 2020 compared to 2019, the DGSN said in a statement.

This promotion concerned 7,204 uniformed police officers and 2,295 plainclothes policemen, with a special focus on staff of lower and middle ranks. The rate of the beneficiaries of a promotion among uniformed policemen has exceeded 99% and reached 89.59% among those in plainclothes, it added.

This announcement comes in a context characterized by the adoption of the new statute of DGSN staff, which guarantees several administrative and financial incentives, including a reduced number of years required to be promoted based on selection, according to the same source.

The national police has also put in place a new performance evaluation charter that grades its staff annually based on criteria of competence, merit and professional performance.

The DGSN attaches particular importance to promotion by selection, which is at the forefront of professional promotion mechanisms and one of the main administrative incentives that encourage police forces to be even more selfless in carrying out their noble missions of protecting the safety of citizens, preserving their assets and improving the quality of the services they provide, the release concluded.
