More than 1,500 kilos of cocaine are found in a boat located in waters near Gran Canaria

Agents of the National Police and the Civil Guard, in a joint operation, seized more than 1,500 kilos of cocaine when they intercepted a semi-rigid boat with three crew members in waters near the coast of Gran Canaria, who were arrested.
The arrest of these three people and the interception of the boat occurred thanks to the joint monitoring and surveillance of the two bodies, as well as the information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance of Morocco (DGST), in the early hours of March 12. January. 2024, when it was detected that an inflatable boat could access the coasts of Gran Canaria, near the Arinaga coast, the National Police reported in a press release.

Immediately afterwards, the Civil Guard patrol boat ‘Río Órbigo’ detected the boat, starting a chase that ended with the arrest of the crew and the boarding of the boat, which allowed the intervention of 1,564.5 kilograms of cocaine transported in 64 packages.
Subsequently, the 64 bales of cocaine and the detainees were transferred to the Puerto de La Luz, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where the drugs were unloaded and weighed to finally transfer the drugs to the command of the Civil Guard in the capital of Gran Canaria. Canaria, for safekeeping.
