Morocco-Israel: Brussels’ Grand Rabbi Hails HM King Mohammed VI’s ‘Giant Step’ in Service of Peace

Brussels Chief Rabbi Albert Guigui welcomed, on Wednesday, the restoration of relations between Morocco and Israel, calling it “a great event that illuminates the end of the year” and a “giant step” of HM King Mohammed VI in favor of peace.

“I salute this giant step of HM King Mohammed VI and His great courage in the service of a virtuous dynamic for peace and harmony between peoples,” Rabbi Guigui told MAP.

“It is a dynamic set in motion not only for the good of Palestinians and Israelis to restore peace between them, but for all peace-loving peoples,” he stated.

According to Brussels Chief Rabbi, “this giant step taken by HM the King is a fundamental element for the future construction of a peaceful and prosperous Middle East.”

Guigui, a native of Meknes, said he keeps this love for his country, Morocco, which he left fifty years ago but still keeps in his heart.

“Here we always talk about living together and tolerance, but in Morocco you will never hear anyone talk about living together because living together in Morocco is a daily reality. It’s part of the DNA of Moroccans,” he recalled with pride.

“It is this tolerance, this openness, and this true living together that I lived in Morocco that has forged my personality,” he said.
