French Foreign Minister Firmly Warns Algerian Regime on X: If Algeria Insists on Expelling Twelve French Officials, We Will Take Similar Measures

ALDAR/

In a notable escalation of tensions between France and Algeria, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot posted a firm statement on his official X account, saying: “Justice is independent. And if Algeria persists in expelling twelve French officials due to an independent judicial procedure, we will have to take similar measures.”

This statement was not part of a passing media interview but rather a clear political message published officially, signaling France’s categorical rejection of what it considers an unjustified move by Algeria.

Although the minister emphasized the independence of the French judiciary, the essence of his message carries more of a diplomatic weight than a legal one, indicating France’s readiness to retaliate if Algeria continues on this path.

France’s move suggests that Paris is no longer willing to turn a blind eye to what it sees as diplomatic harassment targeting its representatives. Through this message, France reaffirms its commitment to the sovereignty and independence of its judicial institutions.
