Last night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon, where the two discussed the strategic relations between the two countries and the security challenges facing the region.

Hegseth emphasized during the meeting the United States’ unwavering commitment to ensuring Israel’s security, stressing Washington’s support for Israel’s right to defend itself. He also pointed out that despite the decline in Iran’s influence and the damage to its proxies in the region, Iran still poses a continuous threat that requires close cooperation between Washington and Tel Aviv to confront.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense added that Israel is the closest ally of the United States, pledging to provide the necessary military equipment to strengthen Israel’s defense capabilities.

Regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal on the future of the Gaza Strip, Hegseth clarified that the U.S. Department of Defense is prepared to explore all available options, noting that the U.S. administration is seeking new and dynamic solutions to address issues that have long seemed insoluble.
